Let It Ride -

Let it Ride is a game based on 5 card poker. However, you aren't gambling against other players, you are betting on the results of your own hand with the dealer.

You begin the game by making 3 equal sized bets and placing them in the designated places on the table.

The dealer will then deal three cards face up to each player and three cards faced down are placed in front of the dealer.

If, after you have seen your first three cards you don't think that you will have a winning hand once all fice cards are displayed, you can withdraw one of your bets. If you want to leave your bet, you signal this to the dealer by sliding your cards under your bet. This shows that you want to "Let it Ride".

Next, the dealer discards the fourth card that they dealt. They then turn over the fifth. Again, each player has the choice, based on their cards, to either withdraw the second of their bets or to Let it Ride.

This means that if you have a bad hand, the only bet that you finally HAVE to make is for one of the equal three bets you placed at the beginning of the game.

Finally, the dealer will turn over the final card. If you have a pair of tens or bets you are a winner. The amount you wins is based on the the following odds of your hand, plus the amount of your bet you left on the table throughout the game.

Payouts/Odds

Hand Payout
Pair of Tens or Better 1:1
Two Pair 2:1
Three of a Kind 3:1
Straight 5:1
Flush 8:1
Full House 11:1
Four of a Kind 50:1
Straight Flush 200:1
Royal Flush 1000:1

Let It Ride Strategy -

Firstly, you may have the opportunity in a game of Let it Ride to place an extra $1 side bet for the chance of getting a bonus. This is almost always a bad bet to make as the house has a very high advantage on this bet.

Another thing to keep an eye out for is maximum payouts in games. Make sure that if you got a Royal Flush while having let all three of your bets ride that the win wouldn't exceed the maximum payout.

The main strategy you need to learn in Let it Ride is under what circumstances you should pull your first or second bets or to Let it Ride.

You should Let it Ride on the first bet if you have:

  • A winning hand - three of a kind or a pair of 10's or greater.
  • Three of the cards for a Royal Flush
  • Three cards of an open ended straight flush. The lowest card should be a three or higher.
  • Three cards of a straight flush with only one gap plus one high card.
  • Three cards of a straight flush with two gaps but with two high cards.

You should only Let it Ride on the second bet if you have the following cards:

  • A winning hand - a pair of 10's or better, three of a kind, four of a kind, or two pairs.
  • Four cards of a Royal Flush, straight flush or of a flush.
  • Four cards of a straight but with no gaps.
  • Four high cards.

Following this strategy of when to let it ride will reduce the house advantage as much as possible.
