Poker Definitions

Stud Poker

There are many varieties of Stud Poker. In stud poker players receive a mixture of face down and face up cards with only part of the cards dealt at the beginning of the game. The remaining cards are dealt with subsequent rounds of betting. Often in Stud Poker the order of betting changes from round to round - the player with the highest face up hand betting first.

Draw Poker

Varieties of Draw Poker involve players being dealt a number of cards face down (five being most common). Players then begin betting. Once the first round of betting is complete, players can choose to discard cards and replace with new cards from the remainder of the deck.
