Triple Draw Poker Rules

There are two main types of Triple Draw Poker played: Deuce to Seven and Ace to Five (both are offered online at Ultimate Bet in real and play money formats). Triple draw is a five card draw low game. It usually has a maximum of 6 players.

Before cards are dealt, the player to the left of the dealer must post a blind bet. Each player is then dealt five cards, followed by a round of betting. The first person to act in this round is the player to the left of the big blind.

Once the round of betting is complete, each player still in the game may discard and replace and cards they wish from their hand. They can replace anywhere from zero to all five cards. The person to the left of the dealer is first to draw.

After each player has drawn ther eis another round of betting, starting with the player to the left of the dealer. There are a fursther two rounds of draws and betting, making a total of 3 draws and 4 rounds of betting. If tehre aren't enough cards to complete a draw, those cards that have already been discarded are reshuffled and used.

The betting structure for triple draw is the same as in Texas Hold'Em. In the first 2 rounds of betting, bets and raises are in increments of the lower bet, and then the final 2 rounds are bet at a higher level. For example, in a $3-$6 game, the first 2 rounds are bet in increments of $3, the final 2 rounds in increments of $6.

Hand rankings depend on the variety of triple draw you are playing:

2-7 Triple Draw

In deuce to seven triple draw, aces play high only, making 2 the low card. Unlike some low games, straights and flushes do count against you. The best hand you can make is 23457 with no flush, 23467 being the second best hand. In general hand rankings work in the opposite of the regular poker hand rankings making a Royal Flush the worst possible hand.

Ace to 5 Triple Draw

Line in 2-7 Triple Draw you are trying to make a low hand. However, in this game straights and flushes to NOT count against you, and aces are played low. This makes the best hand possible A2345 which is known as a wheel. The second best hand would be A2346.
